… if this offends you … great, cuz that’s what I was going for!

This is one I started back in 2004 and never completed it …
I’m done now !

This is a cartoon that was given to me by a friend and fellow cartoonist from Bandera, Texas, Bill Stevens.
Bill has done a cartoon series called, “The Bull Pen,” which is featured in CALF News Magazine.

then came 2002 ….
For my good friend’s birthday greeting …
Instead of drawing him another one each year I just send this one to him again …

From 1997 – What Makes You Think The Romance Is Gone?
This was a popular cartoon for me in 1997 …
Notice the fellow in the chair is reading his copy of “Rope Burns”… I think “Rope Burns” is only published electronically now … but I could be wrong … http://ropeburns.org/
This was about the time I had my dog Bingo …

So with 2014 coming up it means that I have been drawing cartoons now for going on 18 years … so I thought I would do a little chronological posting to show where I started to where I am now ….
I didn’t always do a New Years’ cartoon so I have just selected one from each year …
Here is one I did from 1996 … I copied a lot of the style of Cowboy Cartoonist Bud McCauley when I first started …
…really like his work.

I did this cartoon in 2000 at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo …
The three Amigos appearing in the cartoon are friends of mine, from left to right Garland Tucker – Leather Tooler, Will Burgess – Saddle Maker and Rick McCumber – Western Artist.
Rick is explaining to Will how Garland can take a $50 calf and turn it into a $250 belt … just like that!

… things are not always what they appear to be.

I would have to say this is probably one of my most popular cartoons.
I spent about 16 days in a row at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo with a good friend of mine, Rick McCumber and every day about every two hours “The Arbuckle Boys” would come on stage and sing “Ghost Riders in the Sky”.
After a deluge of this one day Rick said … “hey cardboard cowtoonist I got and idea” … and the rest they say is history.
“GOAT RIDERS in the Sky” was created
Appearing from right to left: JP Rankin, Garland Tucker, Rick McCumber and Will Burgess
